St. John's Lutheran Church
Meet Pastor Rick Roberts
I am a second-career Pastor. My prior twenty-five year working career was in retail management, personnel recruiting management, and I owned a golf marketing company. Even though I did not hear it at the time, I first heard God’s call for me to become a Pastor in 1977 at my grandmother’s funeral. After many life/work changes, and hearing God’s call throughout it all, God helped me to accept God’s call.
In the Fall of 1998, I began my seminary experience at the Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta GA. I completed my Master of Divinity at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbia, SC in 2002. I began my first, and only call, at St. John’s on July 1, 2002.
My wife Kathy and I have been married since June 1980. We have two grown children. Our son, Chris, lives in the Philippines and our daughter, Mandy, lives in the Savannah, GA area. We love hiking, especially viewing waterfalls. Kathy is a retired Kindergarten teacher. She is also very involved in the Christian Growth and Worship ministry at St. John’s. I love playing golf, and of course, teaching, preaching, and leading worship. We are so blessed to be a part of God’s family at St. John’s.
